Project: AZ Wound Solutions
This project focused on performance optimization and technical improvements for an existing WordPress site rather than building a new one from scratch.
WordPress/SEO Performance OptimizationProject Overview
The website was built using WordPress with the Divi Builder and a child theme, but it was experiencing significant performance and technical SEO issues. Initial audits showed PageSpeed scores below 50%, while accessibility and SEO metrics were below 60%, negatively impacting both user experience and search visibility.
After taking ownership of the project, I performed a full technical audit using tools such as Google PageSpeed Insights, Ahrefs, and Google Search Console to identify the primary performance bottlenecks and SEO issues.
Key Improvements Implemented
- Implemented server-level and WordPress caching to improve load times.
- Optimized JavaScript and CSS delivery by combining and minifying files.
- Identified and fixed broken links across the site.
- Added missing image titles and metadata to improve accessibility and SEO.
- Resolved pages that were not properly connected through internal linking.
- Performed additional technical SEO improvements identified through Ahrefs and Search Console audits.
Results
Following these optimizations, the website achieved:
- 96+ scores across PageSpeed metrics.
- Significant improvements in accessibility, SEO, and performance.
- Green performance indicators in both Ahrefs and Google PageSpeed Insights.
These improvements resulted in a faster, more accessible, and SEO-friendly website, providing a better user experience while improving the site's search performance.
